John 21:20-22 Follow Me

Joh 21:20  Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21  Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22  Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

I have been struggling with my Christian walk lately. I have a confrontation with another Christian, and I struggle with going to church. I look around and see what others are doing, and I wonder,"What about me? How does this apply to me? Does God mean I am supposed to do that, too?"
For example, one of my cousins is a very godly man. He spent over 20 years in church, participating in church stuff, being a leader. Then God sent him out into the wilderness, as he put it, and suddenly he wasn't in church at all. And as he told me about this, I wondered "What about me?"

But I have to remember that what other Christians close to me need to do in order to be in God's will may not be what I need to do: His Will for me is for me, not necessarily for someone else. I need to do what Jesus told Peter to do: Follow Him.
When I shared this with my friend Pearl, she said:
No comparisons, no jealousy, no resentment, no striving, no unrest, no heartache, no anger, no frustration, no insecurity.

Just peace, perfect peace in the fact that He made Me the way He wanted me and Loves me more than I can think and imagine.
He loves me more than I can think and imagine. I must follow Him.

  1. This is so nice, I try to put a couple of quotes a week in my blog, with a couple of pictures. I followed Terry S's site and found my self here.
I find to often that people want me to follow their walk with Jesus in order to be saved. I think that is wrong. Jesus I believe will have us walk our own walk with him. He knows use better than we know our selves. All said we do need people as well. However the walk must be personal with Christ. If I have a favourite Bible personality it would be Peter.
    Thanx for posting, this.

  2. dear dimple..you have hit the nail right one head..it is jesus who has his eye on you and it is jesus who you follow.
i have read this scripture so many times and have never really seen it in this light.
peter had his eye on jesus and his other eye on john and for this moment jesus had his eye only on peter..
the lord loves us each the same and yet how precious it is that he takes us just one on one.
and how gracious it was that three times he asked peter if he loved him...almost to show peter that the three times he denied jesus...he had been forgiven that.
    i like peter too....
but wouldn't it be so nice to be like john too as he always seemed to be leaning in jesus breast?

i am glad i found you dimple and that you have this good blog.
sonny[reg] has, twice a week a post on christ's quotes and i find it really good..

    love terry

ps..one of my favourite instances of peter was the time he saw jesus walking on the water and when he knew it was him, and when jesus said "come" he jumped right in and began to sink and right away jesus, when peter said, "lord save me", put his hand out and raised peter right from that turbulent water and after doing that then jesus chided him!..."oh thou of little faith, where for didst thou doubt?"
    yeh,,,i do like peter!
